My week in photo's

Hi Guys,

This week flew by! Last sunday I went to a organic farmers market in the city centre, I went snowboarding, filmed a couple new tutorials which are coming up soon but the best part of the week was spending the weekend with my family. My amazing dad and hubby build me a desk which I absolutely love to death! Today Martz (My husband) put together my drawers and is building me some shelves. Next week there will be some more jobs done, like putting up the wallpaper and getting a side table. If you would like I can do a make up room tour just comment below.

But first my week in photo's:

We had a 12 hour slow cooked pork sandwich at the organic market! It was delish!

This is my absolute all time favourite cake ! An organic red velvet

I filmed a tutorial during snowboarding! It will be up soon :)

Plucked my brows. The tutorial is up! http://thatdutchgurl.blogspot.com/2013/10/eyebrow-101-shaping-your-brows.html

I know, it's bad. Working on a tutorial to show you guys how I overcame my biting habit!

On our way to my family I couldn't resist to buy a couple sweaters.

The perks of a beauty addict! Washing brushes ;)

Have a  nice day and week to all of you cuties out there!

Eyebrow 101: Shaping your brows!

Hi Guys!

From very early age I was intrigued by the shape of eyebrows. I saw my mom plucking hers, watched friends do theirs and saw all those celebrities with perfectly shaped brows. Ever since the day I started doing my own brows I'd gotten many questions on how I did it and they got really bad over time so I figured to do a tutorial on how to pluck your own brows!

Step one:

With a spatula or your tweezers determine the shape of your brows. You can do this by putting it against your nose and along the inner corner of your eye, then draw a line with a liner. Do the same thing on the other corner of your eye as shown in the picture and draw a line again. This should work as your guide.

Step 2

With a brow brush or a spoolie brush your hairs in the direction of the natural growth. Remove everything outside those lines. So that you have a clear frame to work with.

Step three

Determine where you want your arch to be. For my shape of brow just finding the highest part of my brow and drawing a line was enough, but you can always get help with one of those shaping stencils. (If you want me to do a tutorial on it, comment below) Remove every hair under that line and don't forget: Never pluck above your eyebrow!

Step four

This is the final result. Now you beautify yourself and fill in your brows if needed :)

With make-up and filled in brow.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope I made it a little easier for you. Please don't mind the photo's of me without make-up! If you have any questions please comment below!

Tip:

To reduce some of the pain, you can put a metal spoon (ice works just as well if you dry the area completely before you tweeze) in the freezer for about an hour so that it is completely cold. Place that over the area you want to tweeze so that it decreases the feeling.

Seaweed the superfood

Hi guys!

Today I wanna talk about one of my favorite snacks. It's the delicious wrapper of many sushi dishes, a main ingredient in some salads or could go as a snack when dried. But this algae isn't only delicious, it's also very healthy! Seaweed has a ton of vitamins and minerals in it and researches said eating a sheet of nori seaweed equals 2 sandwiches in nutrients!

When applied to the skin it withdraws access oils and water. Which is great for people with combination to oily skin. The seaweed tones and smooths the skin. I like to make a mask out of it once in a while! Here's how:

Step one

Shred the nori sheets in little pieces so they fit onto your face and prepare bowl with lukewarm water.

Step two

Steam your face before applying with a facial steamer or press a warm hand cloth against your face to open the pores.

Step three

This is the fun part. Now you can apply a little bit of honey on your face. This will not only help the nori to stick, but is also super moisturising and helps curing acne and stops ageing! Thank you, mother nature :) Now place the pieces of seaweed onto your face and try to fit all of them leaving only your eyebrows, mouth and your under eye blank.

Step four

Leave the mask on for about 20 to 30 minutes. Be aware that you are not able to talk during this time.

Step five

Rinse the mask with lukewarm water. You can close your pores by splashing some cold water onto your face. Next just feel the softness!

I hope this was helpful and please let me know if you guys tried it!

Getting to know me!

Hi Guys!

As a half Italian, half Dutch kid growing up in The Netherlands I didn`t want to listen to my mom teaching me how to wash my face properly. While time passed and I grew older, I began to understand why she said it was so important and I`m still thankful! I began to understand the world of beauty and thought it was so glamorous! I was eager to try every item of make-up I could lay my hands on (my mom had to slow me down big time!), or try different kind of facial mask with all my girlfriends.

From left to right: Me around the time I discovered my passion (I bleached my hair really bad at the time), my beautiful cousin and my little sister in Italy where our family is from.

But my hunger for beauty wasn`t satisfied at all. Being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted to learn how to correctly put on make-up. So I started my investigation. I googled a few words and no minute later I found this beautiful girl showing me how to do heatless curl through the computer. Right there and then I found my passion!

Many years and watched tutorials later, my friends, family and others come to me with their question. I was fortune enough do a couple make up gigs including bridal make-up on a beautiful bride and myself too!

My amazing supportive husband and I got married on 05-04-13 <3

I enjoy passing my knowledge on and helping other people look even more beautiful so much, I  decided to start a blog. I don`t know how this is going to work out but I really hope some of you beauty`s out there will enjoy reading my tips! Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions :)

That Dutch Gurl
